The National Electoral Commission has two structured components :

Ø   A College of Seven Commissioners including the chairperson and the Vice-chairperson;

Ø  A Permanent Executive secretariat made up of the Executive Secretary and three departments headed by Directors :

§  Director of Administration and finance

§  Director of Electoral Operation

§  Director of Information and Communication Technology

Ø  Provincial and District Commission Branches established during election period

Ø  The Seven Commissioners from different Political Parties and Civil Societies are elected by the Senate for a renewable three years term. But during elections period they work permanently one month before elections until the publication of results;

Ø  The members of the Executive Secretariat are technicians who manage day to day affairs of the NEC and technically the running of the electoral process.
