New EU Ambassador to Rwanda met NEC officials

On January 2, 2010 Ambassador Michel ARRION who took office after Ambassador David McRoe, met with officials of the National Electoral Commission in Kimihurara.

At NEC headquarters, Prof. Chrysologue KARANGWA, Chairman of the NEC, and Mr. Charles MUNYANEZA, Executive Secretary of the NEC, briefed the new EU head of delegation in the ongoing electoral process of presidential elections scheduled for August 9, 2010. European Union is one of high-profile NEC partners.

The chairman of the NEC thanked the EU for its support to NEC activities, which has enabled it to build its election management capacity. The new EU head of delegation assured the NEC of EU’s continued support and agreed in principle to channel their support through the Joint Basket Fund.
