The NEC is
convinced that the diaspora has an important role to play In the framework of preparing for the presidential
election scheduled for August 9, 2010, the National Electoral Commission has
started a sensitization campaign among the diaspora so that they can get
involved in the elections. Officials from the National Electoral Commission
recently travelled to Uganda and Tanzania, countries that host a big part of
Rwandan diaspora. Currently, Mr. Charles Munyaneza, Executive Secretary
of the NEC, and Mr. Oswald Burasanzwe, member of board of commissioners of the
NEC, are in the Republic of South Africa to brief Rwandans living in various
cities of the country including Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town on the
presidential elections. So far, Rwandan diaspora is keen on getting involved
in the forthcoming presidential elections. The one week tour of duty in the Republic
of South Africa started on February 22, 2010 will be concluded on February 27,
2010. Similar tours will be continued in other countries
that host considerable numbers of Rwandan diaspora like Burundi, Kenya, India,
USA, Canada and some countries in Europe. |
